We finally got around doing some Christmas decoration this week my husband and I. We decided to top all our front windows and doors with fresh pine. We went to a friend's property. She has beautifull huge old pines and she doesn't mind us cutting the lowest branches. She actually meant to cut the lowest branches which were too near to the ground. We helped oursevelves with a nice stock of them. ![]() I cut up the branches and arranged pine bundles. Then my husband had the idea to use what he calls "the best invention in the world after the internet", actually the real name is "tie wraps". We used tie wraps to attach the pine bundles to a piece of wood cut to the measurements of the window or door it is meant to decorate.
Now we just have to affix tiny white christmas lights on those and hang them on top of the window and doors (outside of course). The freezing temperatures here will keep them green and fresh until we're tired to see them on. Probably sometime at the end of February. If I can (night pictures are hard to take) I'll take a pic of the whole thing complete with lights and affixed on our house facade. |
It's quite simple, I agree, but we like it this way.
