Almost no cooking this week-end. We removed the ugly linoleum covering a nice hardwood floor in our living-room. I couldn’t sand anymore that horrible plastic-like flooring.
There’s plenty of more important and really useful renovations to make in our 150 years old home. Actually, the whole house is to remodel. We are doing it ourselves and it takes what seems to be forever. Granted the living room is scheduled to be enlarged to almost 3 times its actual size in about 18 months from now. Walls will be knocked down and floorings won’t escape this major renovation.
Still, I just couldn’t wait to see the linoleum gone. I couldn’t stand the idea to live with the ugly, grey, dirty-looking, cigarette burnt (the previous owner didn't think much of ash-trays) linoleum flooring for 18 long months. I wanted the gorgeous hardwood flooring I knew was under it to be shining under our feet as soon as possible. Even if that means we have to deal with the layer of plaster a previous owner had the brilliant idea to spread all over it.

Of course this project leaves me with very little time to tell you about Thursday and Friday’s culinary activities of mine. I hope I’ll be able to write again in Kitchen Culture tomorrow evening, if I have some energy left after dealing with the thick layer of plaster dust which covers everything in the house.

See you tomorrow night, or on Monday…

Hang in there, Zoubida! A beautiful floor is worth the effort! I posted about the bread now so you can try it when you have time...
Thank you Clivia! That's great. I'll go see that mysterious bread tonight.
I agree floors are so important in the whole feeling of a room. I'm glad we've done this even if it meant lots of work.
