This is the 5th edition of what is called "Kikinenveutkikivientkuisiner". It's a very bizare name and no! It's not proper french (smile). It's a funny way of saying "who wants to cook comes and cooks". All the words are spelled phonetically, and for fun Manue who initiated the game decided to have all the words written without spaces between them. The result is funny to say and read.
Sandra at Le Pétrin won the 4th edition with an entry on boudoirs. She suggested Pretzels as a theme for the 5th edition. She also asked we research the subject and come up with some history about this traditionnal snack.
My entry to the game consists in 2 recipes for Pretzels. One very tradtionnal and the other more original, Almond Paste Pretzels. About history, I prefered talking about a cooking technicality, the sodium bicarbonate bath versus the sodium hydroxyde brine.
I'm in the process of translating the whole entry in English. But I decided, against my habit, to go ahead and post the French version before the English version is finished and ready to be published too. This is because this game has a dead-line and I wanted to make sure I'm in. Hopefully my sons won't make a goat out of me tomorrow (no school for 2 days) and I'll be able to complete the English version of my entry.
Meanwhile, I invite you to take a look at the video of the Pretzel shaping. It's bilingual.

Merci à toi Imen pour tes visites régulières. J'ai hâte de voir ton article.
Penny!!! How nice to "see" you here! The most efficient way I used to improve my english is to read a lot in that language.
Thank you for your visit.
Merci Gracianne et Lilizen. J'adore blogger et lire des blogs. Quand à la vidéo, c'est vrai que c'est bien plus parlant et facile pour ceux qui veulent s'essayer à ces recettes plus "manuelles".
